Arizona Cardinals fill needs in odd order in 7-round NFL mock draft

Chad Reuter has a seven-round mock draft as the actual NFL draft approaches.

It is the week of the 2025 NFL draft, so we have to share all the final mock drafts that we can find. NFL.com’s Chad Reuter projected all seven rounds of the draft.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders doesn’t fall far, going sixth overall to the Las Vegas Raiders, while the big early surprise is that running back Ashton Jeanty goes fourth overall to the New England Patriots.

What do the Arizona Cardinals do?

Let’s have a look.

Arizona Cardinals seven-round mock draft picks

  • Round 1, No. 16 overall: Texas OL Kelvin Banks
  • Round 2, No. 47 overall: Virginia Tech WR Jaylin Lane
  • Round 3, No. 78 overall: South Carolina DT T.J. Sanders
  • Round 4, No. 115 overall: Kansas State CB Jacob Parrish
  • Round 5, No. 152 overall: Miami EDGE Tyler Baron
  • Round 7, No. 225 overall: Iowa LB Jay Higgins

Analysis

Looking at the totality of the draft class projected here, these do basically hit every positional need or area we can viably think the Cardinals will address. But it does come in a strange order.

Banks in Round 1 is a real possibility, but not addressing the defensive interior or defensive edge until Rounds 3 and 5? That seems unlikely.

In Round 2, Ohio State defensive tackle Tyliek Williams, Ohio State EDGE JT Tuimoloau and Arkansas EDGE Landon Jackson are all on the board. Any of those players seem more likely than Lane.

Lane adds the speed the Cardinals could use at receiver, but is under 5-foot-10, and the Cardinals have only been adding new receivers at least six feet tall.

And if they pass on Lane in the second round, they could get Georgia guard Tate Ratledge or TCU receiver Jack Bech, who is a very nice fit for what the Cardinals like, in the third round.

We know they like to draft cornerbacks, so it will be no surprise if they draft one at any point.

As for the seventh-round pick, it’s hard to get really upset about anyone, so why not Higgins?
