Howe led the side back into the Champions League last season and will now aim to etch his name into the club’s history forevermore. Newcastle have never won the League Cup but have twice finished as runners-up in the competition.
Liverpool are looking to defend the League Cup after last season’s triumph, a record-extending 10th title for the Merseysiders.
