The Philadelphia 76ers received good news on Monday when they found out they are going to have the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. The Sixers were able to keep their pick while also moving into the top 3 of the draft.
On Tuesday, the franchise made a front office move. Jameer Nelson, a 1-time All-Star with the Orlando Magic during his playing days, had been serving as the GM to the team’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats since 2020. Under Nelson, the Blue Coats won the G League title in 2023.
The Sixers will reportedly promote Nelson to the team’s assistant GM position. The front office is now led by President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, GM Elton Brand, and assuming no other moves will be made, assistant GMs Ned Cohen and Nelson.
The Sixers will now forge ahead and look to make the right decisions on how to handle the draft as they now have a big selection to make on June 25.
