The Dallas Stars have one remaining regular season game and then they have two days off before the Stanley Cup Playoffs start.
It has been officially announced that the Stars will face the Colorado Avalanche in the first round and they will be one of the first games in the hunt for the hardest trophy to win.
While the Stars have been in a downward spiral for the last couple weeks, the Avalanche have announced that their captain, Gabriel Landeskog, could make his return for playoffs. It will be the first time Landeskog has played since Colorado won the Stanley Cup in 2022.
Landeskog sustained a knee injury during the Cup run that required a cartilage transplant. He has been working towards returning to the ice for multiple seasons now. He did a conditioning stint with the Colorado Eagles where he tallied a goal and an assist in two games.
The Stars will have their own players returning to the lineup sometime during the playoffs. Tyler Seguin has been close to returning and is still an option to return in the last regular season game against the Nashville Predators. Miro Heiskanen is behind him in the rehabilitation process and the Stars are hopeful he can return for Round One.
Got some clarification from Jim Nill on the recent Heiskanen reports/wording. Miro Heiskanen was never “not expected” for the first round. He will not play Game 1 vs Avs but he is hopeful to play in the series.

With a lot of moving parts and two deep teams, it is a toss up who could make it through to the second round of the playoffs. It will come down to which team can get their returning players in the lineup and start making an impact.
The Stars take on the Predators for the final game of the season on Wednesday at 7 pm CST.
