The recent George Pickens trade has split the Black and Gold faithful into two camps — those who support sending his immature antics to the Cowboys, and those bewildered over the lack of a succession plan at wide receiver. However, Steelers GM Omar Khan believes that all parties involved benefited from the trade.
In Friday’s press conference, Khan shared why the trade was justifiable in six words:
“This trade made sense for everyone.”
It certainly “made sense” for Pickens — who wore his frustrations on his sleeve throughout the 2024 season. The Cowboys were likely the biggest beneficiaries of the transaction, as they received arguably a top-10 receiver in exchange for a mere third-round pick — while whether the Steelers may regret the move is still yet to be seen.
Longtime sportswriter and Steelers correspondent for The Pat McAfee Show, Mark Kaboly, argued that Pickens’ antics “behind closed doors” may have been far worse than anyone thought. If that truly is the case, the Steelers were winners as well — regardless of who takes over for the former disgruntled Pittsburgh receiver.
Is Khan correct that the trade made sense for everyone, or is this just his poker face showing through once more?
