Steve Kerr, Jonathan Kuminga and other Warriors spotted at Valykries' WNBA season-opener

Friday night marked the first official regular-season game of the WNBA’s 13th franchise, the Golden State Valkyrie. The Valkyrie set a WNBA record with 18,064 fans in attendance at San Francisco’s Chase, the most for any team in its debut contest.

Part of the packed crowd at Chase Center were multiple members of the Golden State Warriors. With their offseason officially underway, multiple members of the Warriors were in the building, showing support for the Bay Area’s newest hoops franchise.

Head coach Steve Kerr was spotted at “Balhalla” on Friday along with Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, Kevon Looney and Buddy Hield. Kuminga was sitting alongside the Warriors and Valkyrie’s majority owner, Joe Lacob.

However, the support from the Warriors didn’t provide the Valkyrie with any extra luck on Friday night.

Behind a fiery 37 points from Kelsey Plum, the Los Angeles Sparks ran away with Friday’s season-opener, 84-67. Tiffany Hayes notched a team-high 19 points for the Valkyrie while Julie Vanloo added 14 points off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to hang with Plum and the Sparks.

The Valkyrie will welcome the Washington Mystics to the Bay Area for Game 2 on Wednesday night.
