We’ve got another trailer for the upcoming horror film, The Woman in the Yard, a Blumhouse production about a grieving family who faces a malevolent presence that takes the form of—you guessed it—a woman in their yard.
This isn’t an ordinary woman, of course. She is shrouded in black, including a veil over her face. Her hands are bloodied and she can snatch people with her shadow. She seems like an impolite guest (she was apparently invited), and it’s up to the newly widowed Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler), still injured from the car crash that killed her husband, to protect her 14-year-old son (Peyton Jackson) and 6-year-old daughter (Estella Kahiha).
This trailer makes it clearer that The Woman in the Yard is about grief and, perhaps, how it can be all-consuming and how, at least in this story, it can take the form of a woman in black who sits in your yard and tries to kill and/or eat you. The film comes from director Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise, Carry-On) with a script from Sam Stefanak, who is making his feature film debut. Okwui Okpokwasili (The Exorcist: Believer) plays the mysterious, malevolent woman, and—if the trailer is any indication—gives a bone-chilling performance.
The Woman in the Yard premieres in theaters on March 28, 2025.
