While the first round of the postseason is underway, The Athletic released its annual anonymous NBA player poll for the 2024-25 season. The Athletic surveyed 158 players from across the league with questions like ” Who is the MVP?”
A pair of Golden State Warriors earned votes for one of the questions on the poll — “Who is the league’s most overrated player?” Both Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green finished in the top six in voting for the league’s most overrated player.
Butler landed in fourth with 5.5% and Green finished in sixth with 4.4% of the voting. 90 votes were cast for this category according to The Athletic. Indiana point guard Tyrese Haliburton and Minnesota center Rudy Gobert earned the most votes with Atlanta point guard Trae Young finishing in third.

Despite receiving votes for “most overrated,” both veterans have made a significant impact on Golden State’s playoff push. Green was just named a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year, while Butler has helped catapult the Warriors into playoff contention since landing in the Bay Area at the trade deadline in February. With Green as the defensive anchor and Butler in the lineup, the Warriors have posted a 25-7 record since Feb. 8, including a win in the play-in tournament and a victory in Game 1 against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
It wasn’t all negative votes for the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors received the most votes for the league’s “best organization.” Golden State earned 21.4% of the 137 votes cast, landing at No. 1. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics rounded out the top three.
Steve Kerr also received votes for “best coach in the league.” Kerr finished with 4.7% of the 147 votes, finishing sixth in voting. Former Golden State assistant and current Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson finished second with 13.6% of the vote. Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault finished in first with 21.8% of the vote.
