USC basketball learns about its NCAA Tournament first-round game versus UNC Greensboro at the Galen Center
On Sunday evening, it was announced that USC women’s basketball will be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. The Trojans will open the tournament with first and second round games at Galen Center next weekend.
Later in the night, we learned more details about USC’s opening matchup. The Trojans will take on No. 16 seed UNC Greensboro on Saturday at Galen Center. Tipoff is set for noon Pacific time, and the game will air on ABC.
Following USC’s game, Galen Center will host No. 8 seed Cal vs. No. 9 seed Mississippi State. Tipoff of that game will be at approximately 2:30 p.m. Pacific time on ESPN2. The winners of the two matchups will meet on on Monday, March 24. Tipoff time and television information for that game will be announced following Saturday’s contests.
USC is in the Spokane 4 region, so if the Trojans advance to the second weekend of the tournament, they would play their games in Spokane. Their Sweet 16 game, should they get that far, will be on Saturday, March 29. If they were to win that game, they would play in the Elite Eight on Monday, March 31.
This year’s Women’s Final Four and national championship game will be played on April 4 and 6, respectively in Tampa, Florida.
