Which opposing quarterbacks will the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense face on their 2025 NFL schedule?
We do not know what the exact 2025 NFL schedule will look like for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but we do know who their opponents are, and therefore, which quarterbacks the defense will be up against this season.
We are going to see a very different Jaguars’ defense this season under new defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile. In part, that’s personnel related with Jourdan Lewis, Eric Murray, Travis Hunter, and Caleb Ransaw all being added to the secondary.
But beyond that, Campanile’s defensive scheme is going to be quite malleable, and ultimately built around the skill sets on the Jaguars’ roster, and also multiple, willing to throw a variety of looks at opposing offenses, keeping that unit off-balance and guessing.
“We want to put the best guys we have out there,” Campanile said earlier this offseason. “There will be front variation. There will be coverage variation. We’re going to test the protection on third down. There will be a lot of multiplicity to what we do in terms of simulators, pressure. That’s what I can tell you.”
Campanile’s coaching background at the NFL level is rooted in the linebacker position. He’s also operated within several different defensive schemes under Jeff Hafley, Brian Flores, and Vic Fangio.
However, while the scheme and game-planning components certainly can’t be overlooked, more important than that to Campanile is the defense having the right mentality and play style.
“The most important thing when you talk about defense is your play-style,” said Campanile. “My vision for us defensively, we want to be a tough, fast, physical, violent at the point of attack team.
“What does that mean? That means that you got guys who take pride in not getting blocked. Everybody talks about running to the ball, I don’t think there’s another person in the world who believes in running to the ball more than I do. But you can’t run to the ball if you don’t get off blocks, and that is something that’s going to be celebrated in our room.”
